Ankle boots are still in season! This hot look shows no sign of cooling either even as we go well into 2010. But, it is easy to make the mistake with this look and come off more as trendy cheeky then well-dressed and chic. Here are some tips to help you pull off the latter.

* Choose the right height. Save the high heeled boots for the evening and then more lower pratical heights for day-wear.

* Bare Legs and boots. You can pair ankle boots with a dress or skirt that is short in length. Be careful that the skirt or dress is above or up to your knees, not below them. No matter your height.

* Watch the proportions. Because ankle boots are so small, they can look awkward with fuller silhouettes up top (like boyfriend jeans or a full skirt both no-nos), but they are a great option if you’re trying to showcase your legs. Show off those legs by pairing ankle boots with leggings, skinny jeans, or short skirts and dresses. They also look amazing when worn with tights.
