What is Plurk?
Here is the quote from the Plurk Creators:
“Noun. plurk (plüer-kh) – A really snazzy site that allows you to showcase the events that make up your life in deliciously digestible chunks. Low in fat, 5 calories per serving, yet chock full of goodness.”
Asking people who are using Plurk:
◦“It’s like an instant messenger, but shorter”
◦“It’s a social journal”
◦“It’s similar to Twitter, but more fun and better to use”
◦“It’s a micro-blogging website. A great way of keeping up with your friends busy lives”
◦“It’s like mini conversations. You share what you want and your friends respond in their own time.”
In Other Words?
Plurk is a micro-blogging website. Micro-blogging is a form of blogging that allows users to write brief text updates (usually 140 characters) and publish them, either to be viewed by anyone or by a restricted group which can be chosen by the user. These messages can be submitted by a variety of means, including text messaging, instant messaging, email, MP3 or the web.
Plurk is not a new Myspace or Facebook, it’s similar to Twitter because you just “blog” what you’re up to, how you’re feeling, ask questions etc with a maximum of 140 characters. Friends reply and you can reply to their Plurks.
